I’ve never been an Anime fan, it just isn’t for me. Sure, I’ve watched plenty of adult animation shows, typically western, mostly comedies and mostly from FX Network. Think shows like Bojack Horseman or Archer.
One of my favorite YouTubers, the consistently embattled SSSniperWolf mentioned about a year ago that her favorite anime was Bleach. I didn’t immediately run out and watch it. it wasn’t until I played the HORRIBLE gacha game Brave Souls, a silly mobile game that is based off of the Bleach series.
Blame It On SSSniperWolf
The game had a cozy feel, horrible mechanics and systems. It was made for the mobile market and to slowly drain hundreds of dollars from players. Trying that horrible game and loving the story made me go and search for Bleach on Google. My query was a typical one, “where to stream Bleach online?”
The first results came back Hulu and a few sites I never heard before. Luckily, I had a Hulu subscription recently renewed to finally finish season 3 of Only Murders In The Building in time for the latest season premiere.
Brave Souls
Once I started to watch Bleach I quickly realized that the Brave Souls game was exactly the same as the first season of Bleach. The exception was that the show was so much better. Initially, I was going to quit the series on the first episode because the father had that typical goofy anime dad persona. I’m glad I hung in because what a series that show is!
The Oddly Comforting Sorrow
Far from a kiddie cartoon, the story immediately throws you in the world of Soul Reapers, Hollows, death, sorrow, depression and even redemption. What a series!
For anyone looking for an interesting anime series to get into, Bleach is amazing and I return to it every few nights. Hulu has 18 years worth of Bleach episodes to binge, absorb slowly or however you wish to consume.
