What happens when the cost of cutting the cord is more expensive than cable TV?

We know the benefits of streaming is that it can be cost effective, but as more streaming outlets are created we are tempted to add more monthly subscriptions. This can get costly.

It is unfortunate when all of our favorite shows are not on one network. This is where and when things get costly.

Perhaps one way to manage this and not end up paying too much money is to take a seasonlity approach. In simple words, only pay for certain networks when our favoritie shows are released, then cancel as not to waste money.

My Hulu membership goes mostly unused the majority of the year, so I canceled it. Outside of catching up on old Bleached and 30Rock episodes, I have very little use for it when Only Murders In The Building doesn’t have a new season to binge. I’m sure that you run into the same with Disney+ Netflix etc

At one time, I saw my monthly subscription bill for all networks skyrocket to over $100 a month. I wasn’t saving any money compared to cable, well not much money compared to cable. It isn’t about affordability for me, but not wasting money. Not having my money wasted and simply going to a corporation for nothing.

I suppose one major benefit when it comes to streaming networks over traditional cable is how curated my subscription services are. I’m not wasting any time on bloated offerings. This is unlike cable TV where you get 100 channels worth of pure JUNK. Most of these channels have trash content that you will never view.

Is there a takeaway?
Perhaps the greatest takeaways are (1) Watch where you are spending money (2) Cancel services when you are not get any utility from them (3) Ultimately streaming is better because the offerings are better curated towards your taste
